Designers create different personas to help them get a better understanding of their target audience. Personas can be used as something to fall back on if we ever need to make a decision about our projects. It is about figuring out the best way to attract and communicate to your specific type of audience.

I have create three different personas for my Capstone. These personas will highlight the target audiences’ personality, interests, and motives.

Here we go!

Persona #1: The Young & Playful

List of Traits:

  • Outgoing, Loud, Goofy, Playful
  • They are at the point in their life where they are starting to develop their own opinions and develop a personality.
  • They speak what is on their mind
  • They love watching videos on their parents phone

My first target audience represents the 2–4 year olds who love running around and acting goofy. They are loud but sweet and friendly. They enjoy playing outside and building forts. Quick stories work the best for their energetic brains. They love watching Mickey Mouse and the Roadster Racers and Wild Kratts. These types of kids best understand simple and energetic storylines. Bright colors and funny characters grab their attention.

Common Sense Timeline states that 80 percent of children in America have access to a tablet and know how to use it. This target type loves using the family ipad or their parent’s phone to play games and watch videos. This would be an opportunity to reach out to this technologically savvy crew and introduce them to these animated short stories and interactive games.

Persona #2: The Sweet & Shy

List of Traits:

My second target audience exists in the same age range but represents a different type of personality. This group of kids are typically more timid and kind-hearted. They are a little more nervous and approach new situations with caution. They like observing instead of being active in conversation. Even though they are shy, their brains are always thinking. This target type loves being creative by using their imagination.

They enjoy watching sweet and silly shows like Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Doc McStuffins. They are more aware of the plots that happen within the shows. These kids love storytime with their parents. They love picture books with fun illustrations to look at.

Persona #3: The Role Models

This third group would target parents from ages 30–45. After all, parents want to know what their kid is watching. They want to know whether or not the show is beneficial for their kid. The only way to know for sure is to sit down and watch it with them. You know a cartoon is successful when a parent enjoys watching.

List of Traits:

  • Involved, Patient, Creative, Loving, Clever
  • They are most likely to have one or two kids and are entering middle age
  • They want what is best for their kid and want to protect them from the corrupt world.
  • They enjoy quality family time with their kids and having conversations with them. They want to learn more about their kid.

These parents enjoy the nostalgia of good 2D animations and inventive characters. They value wholesome storylines that are still layed out with humor and morals. This target group worries about their kid’s education and knows that these first couple years are crucial for building social skills and developing a better understanding of how to behave in situations. They want to be involved in their child’s activities to know if they understand the morals of the stories they watch. My capstone would allow them to participate in discussion with their kids along with other activities such as coloring or interactive storyline games.

These parents often shop at Sam’s Club and Costco for their good deals and buying in bulk. If I ever wanted to sell show merchandise, I would place my items there where parents are often buying cute toys and books for their kids along with their big list of groceries.
